Only two ingredients that you already (should) have in your pantry and that’s all you need to make your very own brown sugar! Who knew it was so easy. 😉
This is one of those recipes that is so simple that it’s almost too easy to write about. BUT it’s also a recipe that you might not totally know about. Especially all you newer bakers out there–this tip could save you money and your sanity!
How many times have you gone to make a fresh batch of chocolate chip cookies only to realize when you open the pantry that you’re all out of brown sugar?! OR the brown sugar you do have is hard as a rock. Ugh…so annoying, right?
Well those days are long over, friend. Before you start putting away the eggs and butter for those yummy cookies, tell yourself, “That’s right! I can make my own brown sugar!” And all you need is two ingredients that you probably already have: sugar and molasses.
You simply mix those two ingredients together until they’re totally incorporated, and you’re good to continue on with your baking.
And the nice thing about making your own brown sugar is that you can tailor it to your preferences. Do you enjoy more of a robust molasses flavor? Go ahead and add a bit more molasses to the sugar. Need dark brown sugar? Same thing: double up that molasses. Never again will you experience the frustration of running out of this staple ingredient. Just make sure you have some Golden Barrel Baking Molasses in that pantry of yours! 😉
